Contemporary Portraiture

Our Curator

Our curator is Dr. Isaac King who received his PhD in art history from the University of Pittsburgh and a matching MA from the University of Arizona. He specializes in American portraiture with a focus on how artistic approaches to “authenticity” and “likeness” have changed over time in relation to expanding markets, new representational technologies, and shifting concepts of identity. He has taught art history for over a decade at a variety of institutions and is currently serving as a Curator of American Art at the Brigham Young University Museum of Art.
